October 3, 2020 DR. ELIZABETH SUSHKO ATTENDED THE AALA NATIONAL CULTURAL DIVERSITY SUMMIT, AUSTRALIA

Dr. Elizabeth Sushko has attended the National Cultural Diversity Summit of the Asian Australian Lawyers Association.

The AALA National Summit has brought together international thinkers, including leading lawyers, policy-makers and practitioners to critically examine and discuss a road map for Cultural Diversity in the Law.

With reference to the Agenda of the AALA National Cultural Diversity Summit, the participants have focused on key issues such as:
  1. The role of cultural leadership in the legal industry and the wider community.
  2. The need to improve access to the law for culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
  3. Reform of the judicial appointment process in Australia.
  4. The strength and value in pursuing further collaboration between culturally and linguistically diverse lawyer associations and the wider legal industry.

The Summit was an important event, which contained the exchange of informed views and raised many interesting points from the participants that require further consideration.
