Dr. Elizabeth Sushko-West attended the Annual Data Protection Practitioners’ Conference that was hosted and held by UK ICO.
The Law Society of Zhejiang Province awarded Dr. Elizabeth Sushko-West with the Excellence Award.
Dr. Sushko-West participated in the Annual Meeting of International Economic Law Association of the Law Society of Zhejiang Province, and the Symposium on "Innovative Development of International Economic Law in the Context of Institutional Opening-up” that was hosted by the International Economic Law Association of the Law Society of Zhejiang Province, organised by Zhejiang School of Economics, Finance and Law, co-organised by the "One-Belt-One-Road” College of Zhejiang Institute of Foreign Languages, and sponsored by one of the leading law firms in China.
More than 140 experts from all over China participated in the Meeting and the Symposium: leading authoritative academics and practitioners.
The article of Dr. Sushko-West in Mandarin Chinese was entitled;《创新时代“一带一路”背景下的<中华人民共和国个人信息保护法>》.1
It was included in the Collection of the Symposium Proceedings. Her article covered essential elements that were discussed during the both events.

“摘要：本文概述了“一带一路”倡议在创新时代可能面临的新挑战，例如跨法律文化问题，如果各方对相对应的国家的法律环境存在成见和误解，就无法达成协议，从而造成障碍。本论文以中国和英国作为“相对应的国家”的例子。通过对《中华人民共和国个人信息保护法》和《2018年英国数据保护法》的分析，可以看出，这些法律在规范个人数据保护方面有着共同的方法。巩固互联互通与合作的基础是“一带一路”倡议的支柱之一。”2

2 "Abstract: This paper outlines the new challenges that the 'One-Belt-One-Road' initiative may face in the innovation era, such as cross-cultural legal issues. If all parties have prejudices and misunderstanding about legal environment of the corresponding country, they will not be able to reach an agreement, which will create obstacles towards cooperation. This paper takes China and United Kingdom as examples of 'corresponding countries'. Through the analysis of the Law on Personal Information Protection of the People's Republic of China and the UK Data Protection Law 2018, it can be seen that these laws have a common approach in regulating personal data protection. Consolidating the foundation of connectivity and cooperation is one of the pillars of the 'One-Belt-One-Road' initiative."
Dr. Elizabeth Sushko-West was welcomed to the discussion at the Annual Meeting of International Economic Law Association of the Law Society of Zhejiang Province, and the Symposium on "Innovative Development of International Economic Law in the Context of Institutional Opening-up".

November 1, 2021 The Law of the People’s Republic of China “On the Protection of Personal Information” entered into force
The Law of the People’s Republic of China “On the Protection of Personal Information”
came into effect on 1 November 2021.
This Law includes the following:
1. Personal information processing rules;
a) General provisions;
b) Processing rules for sensitive personal information;
c) Special provisions on the handling of personal information by state organs;
2. Rules for cross-border provision of personal information;
3. Personal rights in personal information processing activities;
4. Obligations of personal information processors;
5. Departments responsible for the protection of personal information；
6. Legal responsibility;
7. Supplementary provisions.
The Manuscript written by Dr. Elizabeth Sushko-West in Mandarin Chinese was accepted for publishing in the collective monograph of Chinese experts. The title of her Manuscript is as follows; “创新对新时代公司模式和公司管理的影响”1.
