Part 3

Dr. Elizabeth Sushko drew attention of the audience to other challenges brought by the Initiative of China “One Belt One Road”:
1. environmental protection;
2. fierce competition and markets development;
3. understanding by foreigners;
4. cooperation between SMEs in the OBOR countries.

However, it is possible to foresee certain opportunities when overcoming these challenges.

1.
Realization of the infrastructure projects can pose serious threats to the environment and resultant quality of life. However, it’s an opportunity for all the parties to be involved in a joint effort to establish an effective set of regulations.
The UN Environment and China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection announced an International Coalition of organizations to ensure the Belt and Road initiative brings long-term, planet-friendly growth (2017).

2.
Successful response will provide enormous opportunities for China and for the world.  Infrastructure across Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East is planned to be built.
New markets for Chinese and foreign products are to be created. Partnerships in technology and information between China and other economies will provide a foundation for further fruitful cooperation.

3.
The OBOR Initiative can help to develop a new basis of cooperation and promote mutual trust and mutual benefit for China and other countries.

4.
The OBOR Initiative brings more opportunities for the cooperation between Chinese SME and foreign SME.
